Between 1996 and 2000 they have managed to collect an impressive sum of money in grants and matching funds for the beautification of the trees in Laporte.
A variety of trees have been planted rather than just the Sugar Maples of the past. They are: Oaks, Conifers, Callary Pears, Birch, Ash, Linden, Crabapple, Japanese Tree, Lilac, American Hornbeam, Hawthorns, Cherry, Dogwoods, Tulip, Poplar, Turkish Filbert, Kentucky coffee, Ginkgo, Maples, Serviceberry, Honey Locust and Redbuds.
The Town Park looked beautiful with all the trees and shrubbery trimmed and mulched. Thanks for all your efforts Ann and Henry Street.
